A tentative agenda set by the University Senate earlier today allots time between 4 and 5 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the possibility of a Senate motion demanding the review of Oregon University System Chancellor George Pernsteiner’s current contract.
As stipulated in the contract, the State Board of Higher Education can call a meeting prior to Dec. 31, 2011, if members find it necessary to reconsider the conditions of Pernsteiner’s employment. The Board has the authority to renegotiate the terms of the contract or, as some University faculty members are suggesting, allow the contract to expire altogether.
However, if no such meeting is scheduled, the contract will automatically renew for another year.
Wednesday’s meeting will reveal the Senate’s true course of action.
Until then, here is a copy of Chancellor Pernsteiner’s current contract, signed back in 2009.
