Homeless men found guilty of assault
Two homeless men were acquitted of attempted murder charges after a brutal fight with a Glenwood man. Instead, the men were found guilty of third degree assault.
The jury spent less than three hours on their decision. John Chartrand, 44, was sentenced to one year in prison while Carl Pyritz, 42, was sentenced to 25 months in jail due to his previous criminal history.
Police still searching for suspects in stabbing near campus
Three Eugene residents are currently being sought by police for a stabbing last Sunday on the 400th block of East 14th Ave. Roxanne Reed, 39, and Vincent Rodriguez, 21, were two of three people connected to the stabbing of an 18-year-old.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. Reed and Rodriguez are suspected to have been with at least one other male, as well as a female juvenile who they believe is related to Reed.
Eugene woman cited after non-lethal crash
A Eugene woman was cited with driving under the influence of intoxicants after she drove the wrong way on Hilyard Avenue near East 11th Avenue Thursday morning, running a red light and hitting another car at 1:43 a.m.
Allison Faye Roberts, 31, flipped her car on impact and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Roberts hit an Oregon Taxi that had been stopped at the stoplight she ran. No other motorists were taken for treatment.
This is the third alcohol-related driving incident this month.
