The Oregon Ducks Women’s Soccer team (7-7-2, 2-4-1 Pac-12) failed to put away a feisty opponent in the Washington Huskies (6-6-4, 2-3-2 Pac-12) drawing 1-1 on Friday night at Pape Field. After a scoreless 80 minutes, Oregon jumped out in front with what looked to be the game winning goal off a rocket of a free kick from defender Scout Libke. Oregon’s defense would only be able to kill off nine of the final 10 minutes though, letting Washington’s Lindsay Elston bury a free ball into the top of the net sending the game into overtime. Once into extra time Oregon had several chances to put the game to bed, with forward Brynne Konkel’s looping header saved off the line by Washington defender Stine Schoening’s heroics and Bri Pugh’s curling blast hitting the crossbar. However, luck was not on Oregon’s side as neither team could break through, leaving each squad with a consolation point. The Ducks will have another chance at victory on Sunday, hosting Washington State at 1 p.m. at Pape Field.
