Oregon State 37, Arizona 27
The Wildcats (1-5, 0-4 Pac-12) dropped their fifth-straight game and eighth-consecutive conference loss in Corvallis on Saturday to give Oregon State its first win of 2011. The Beavers (1-4, 1-2 Pac-12) intercepted Arizona quarterback Nick Foles twice and recovered a pair of fumbles to help secure the victory.@@http://www.osubeavers.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/100811aad.html@@
Arizona’s Nick Foles was his usual prolific self Saturday, throwing for 378 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Oregon State in the Beavers’ first win of the season. (Gordon Bates/Arizona Daily Wildcat)
Oregon State nearly squandered a 27-6 halftime lead, with Arizona putting up 14 points in the third quarter and eventually cutting the lead to 30-27 in the fourth. Beavers quarterback Sean Mannion threw his second touchdown pass of the day to tight end Joe Halahuni on fourth and 2 with less than six minutes remaining and held on for the 10-point win.
For his part, Foles completed 31 of his 45 pass attempts for 378 yards and one touchdown, with junior wide receiver Dan Buckner catching eight of those passes for 144 yards and one score.@@http://www.osubeavers.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2011-2012/osu-ariz.html@@
Looking ahead, Arizona gets a much-needed bye week before facing UCLA on Oct. 20, and Oregon State will host BYU (4-2) in a nonconference matchup Saturday at 1 p.m.
Then-No. 22 Arizona State 35, Utah 14
The Sun Devils got their first road win of the season and improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Pac-12 play with a victory over Utah. Arizona State took a narrow 10-7 lead into halftime before blowing the game open with an 18-point third quarter, thanks in large part to three third-quarter Utah turnovers on consecutive possessions.@@http://www.thesundevils.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/asu-m-footbl-sched.html@@@@http://www.thesundevils.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2011-2012/utahasu.html@@
Junior quarterback Brock Osweiler turned in his third career 300-yard passing game for the Sun Devils and completed 25 of his 41 pass attempts for 325 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receivers Mike Willie and Gerell Robinson combined to catch 14 passes for 199 yards and two scores in the winning effort.
Utah (2-3, 0-3 Pac-12) couldn’t overcome its five total turnovers and scored just two touchdowns for the second week in a row. The Utes have another big test this coming week when they go to Pittsburgh for their final nonconference game of the year. Meanwhile, Arizona State prepares for a prime time matchup with No. 9 Oregon in Eugene, where the ESPN College GameDay crew will be on hand.
No. 7 Stanford 48, Colorado 7
The Cardinal remained perfect through five games with a complete victory over a struggling Colorado squad and Heisman Trophy-favorite Andrew Luck continued to impress in arguably his best outing of the season.
Luck threw for a season-high 370 yards and three scores on 26-of-33 passing, with 11 different players recording at least one reception in the game. Stanford (5-0, 3-0 Pac-12) wasted no time getting on the board as Max Bergen returned a blocked field goal 75 yards to pay dirt@@yes@@ less than four minutes into the game, and Colorado (1-5, 0-2 Pac-12) never recovered.@@http://www.gostanford.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/100811aab.html@@@@http://www.gostanford.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2011-2012/stanfb05.html@@
The Cardinal defense pitched a shutout in the second half and scored 21 unanswered points to seal the victory.
Stanford’s sixth-ranked scoring defense has allowed just 10.6 points per game this season, but it will be tested this weekend against a Washington State squad that’s averaged more than 40 points per game this year. Colorado faces an equally tough challenge in Washington, who enters Saturday’s game fresh off a bye week.@@http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/1043@@@@http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/1028/p1@@

Bruins quarterback Kevin Prince connected with Shaq Evans for the go-ahead score with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 173 yards passing in relief of starter Richard Brehaut, who broke his leg in the second quarter.
The Cougars (3-2, 1-1 Pac-12) had more total offense than UCLA, 389-371, and dominated the time of possession but couldn’t keep the Bruins out of the end zone in the fourth quarter. UCLA (3-3, 2-1) got 110 yards on the ground from running back Johnathan Franklin and another 27 yards and two scores from Derrick Coleman.
Washington State quarterback Marshall Lobbestael threw for more than 200 yards for the fifth-straight game, completing 28 of his 40 passing attempts for 235 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort.
The Cougars host Luck and Co. on Saturday night, while UCLA enters a bye week before going to Arizona for a Thursday night game the following week.
