On Sept. 4, 2011 Eugene police officer Derek DeWitt was arrested on drunk driving charges in Sun River, Ore. This Saturday, the Deschutes County Circuit Court released new information, including his blood alcohol level which was .15 upon arrest. DeWitt is pleading no contest to the charge and has had his license suspended for a year among other penalties. The courts are refusing to give media more information at this time.
34-year-old Marques Ian Salazar was arrested on six counts of public indecency. The University of Oregon employee was reported exposing himself or masturbating while driving next to female pedestrians. These incidents occurred between Sept. 27 and Oct. 13 around the West University areas.
On Oct. 21, 32-year-old Jason C. Parkerman was arrested at the Occupy Eugene protests for displaying his gun. According to witnesses there was a verbal fight in which racial slurs were used, eventually leading to Parkerman showing his gun. Parkerman had a license to carry, so he was only charged with second-degree disorderly conduct.
On Monday, Oct. 17, 27-year-old Lamar Alex Davis was sentenced to 15 years in prison on a rape one charge from Aug. 24. Davis was accused of raping a woman at The District nightclub who was passed out due to over intoxication. Davis added this 15 year sentence to another 5 year sentence he is already serving for a probation violation.
