Oregon women’s soccer player Scout Libke was selected to the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program’s Under-19 team, which will play three games in Germany and take in three Women’s World Cup matches this week.
Libke, a junior-to-be midfielder for the Ducks, scored two goals and had two assists as she started all 20 matches in 2010, while holding down a team-best 1,825 minutes played.
The team will be coached by John Byford, the head women’s soccer coach at Villanova University, and by Phil Nielsen, coach with Team Chicago Soccer Club. They will match up with Bundesliga team Sportfreunde Siegen, and FC Magdeburg and FC Lubars of the Bundesliga’s second division.
During their time as fans, Libke and her 17 teammates watched the United States play Colombia on Saturday, Brazil against Sweden on Sunday and the United States against Sweden on Wednesday in Wolfsburg.
