Eugene’s Ferry Street was crowded with police Saturday night as a variety of loud parties lead to a car being stolen and a high-speed pursuit around the University neighborhood. Witnesses say that one police car was stationed outside one of the houses for at least an hour before more police came and began looking for people, both on foot and in cars.
University sophomore Erik Jensen @@http://directory.uoregon.edu/telecom/directory.jsp?p=findpeople%2Ffind_results&m=student&d=person&b=name&s=Erik+Jensen@@was sitting on the roof of his house with some friends when he saw a car speed by Ferry, closely followed by two police cars.
At least one man was arrested trying to escape from officers on 14th and Ferry. A K-9 unit was brought into the area to track suspects on foot. Police vehicles were stationed at every intersection surrounding Ferry.
Police didn’t begin to leave the area until around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning. At the time of press, Eugene Police Department was not available for comment.
There is no word whether the car was found or if the suspect was apprehended at this time.
