Hooray! You’ve just begun your first round of college classes! Here is a list of 10 classes that will get you the credits you need while keeping you on your toes.
1. AEIS 110 — Introduction to Academic Writing Many students enter college with little writing skills, but AEIS 110, you will learn how to write a clear and grammatically correct paper.
2. J 100 — Media Professions If you’re looking for insight into the journalism world, then this is the class for you. This course introduces you to media and communication professions and opportunities, as well as majors in journalism.
3. ITAL 101 — First-Year Italian Have you ever wanted to visit Italy? Well, here’s the next best thing! The course will introduce you to basic Italian speaking, reading, writing and comprehension skills.
4. PSY 201 — Mind and Brain Need science credits but hate math? This psychology course introduces you to the wonder behind perception, memory, learning and cognition.
5. PS 201 — U.S. Politics If you’re interested in American politics, then this is the class for you. The course introduces you to American institutions, political doctrines and ideology and their effect on U.S. politics.
6. EC 101 — Contemporary Economic Issues In this course, students study contemporary public policy using economic principles. This class may have nothing to do with your desired major but is vital to living in the real world.
7. BA 101 — Introduction to Business Because business is a common major, this introduction course is a beneficial class for those of you who may be undecided. In this course, you will learn the historical, social, political, economic and legal environments within business operations.
8. SOC 204 — Introduction to Sociology Are you more of a social science person? Sociology 204 introduces you to the development, structure and functioning of human society. You will be exposed to different cultures, learn how they function and why.
9. MUS 125 — Understanding Music This course will teach you about music from different time periods. If you’re tired of taking boring general education classes, Music 125 gives you the chance to expose yourself to something new and fun through music while still receiving four credits to do so.
10. ARCH 201 — Introduction to Architecture For the more creative minds (and for those who may be interested in a major in architecture), Architecture 201 examines places, design procedures and the use of architectural principles.
