Browsing through the vast Emerald photo archives, I came across this shot of former Ducks Spencer Paysinger and Casey Matthews. The two were anchors at the linebacker position, both starting their three final years at Oregon. Their tenures coincided with the school’s ascension from the Holiday Bowl in 2008, to the Rose Bowl in 2009, culminating last year with the National Championship Game. Both now enjoy success in the NFL, where the two shared the field again on Sunday, albeit on different teams. Paysinger’s New York Giants defeated Matthews’ Philadelphia Eagles 29-16.
