The Oregon Daily Emerald is launching a brand new blog for the 2011-12 Oregon football season (and, presumably, all seasons henceforth). This being the first official post, we figured that it only made sense to explain what this project will entail.
We know what you are thinking: Aren’t there enough places to get the latest info on the Ducks? Don’t Rob Moseley, Ken Goe and Ted Miller have everything covered?
Well, yeah. Those guys are among the best in the business, and by no means do we expect to replace them as a source of information. Rather, look at this blog as something of a common room, for lack of a better word, created by the students, for the students.
There will be meticulous reporting, to be sure, and we will have dispatches from practice on a daily basis when the season begins. But as the official source of news for the student community, we felt it was imperative to foster a better connection between us and you, the reader.
So if you have a question about the latest on Cliff Harris, or want to sound off when Les Miles inevitably fails to punish the LSU players recently involved in a bar fight, look no further. We, the sports desk, will be a near constant presence on the blog, and will do our very best to answer questions and take part in discussions.
Today is the beginning. We’ll be back later with some real posts, but in the meantime, follow us on Twitter (@odesports), Facebook, and the Emerald website. We’re excited to get this thing going, and hope you’ll join us as we begin what will hopefully be a memorable season.
Welcome to Duck Season
