The Oregon men’s basketball team dropped its sixth consecutive game Saturday night at the hands of the Washington State Cougars. The men from Pullman held Oregon to just 33.8 percent shooting from the field en route to a 77-63 victory.
The loss put the Ducks at 7-9 overall and 0-4 in Pacific-10 Conference play, while Washington State improved to 12-4 on the year and 2-2 in the league.
Four Washington State players finished the game in double figures as Klay Thompson scored a game-high 16 points and Reggie Moore chipped in 15 points and five assists.
For Oregon, junior Garrett Sim led the way with 13 points, while freshman Johnathan Loyd and junior Teondre Williams contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Ducks were without the help of senior Joevan Catron and junior Jeremy Jacob in the second half. Each of them nursed injuries after seeing limited action in the first period — Catron with 12 minutes, Jacob just six.
Senior guard Malcolm Armstead did not suit up for the first time in his career as he too is trying to recover from an injury. Armstead played in 47 consecutive games prior to his absence, starting 41 of those contests.
The Ducks will look to get a few healthy bodies back as they return to Eugene this week for the unveiling of Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon will host USC at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night, then welcome UCLA at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
