Luke Jackson: 42 points vs. Arizona, Feb. 19, 2004
The senior from Creswell wrote the end of a brilliant Oregon career with one of the most impressive individual performances in Duck basketball history against the then-No. 14 Wildcats.
Jackson scored 42 points (27 in the second half) and grabbed 10 rebounds as Arizona escaped McArthur Court with a 100-87 victory. The game was described by Wildcats guard Chris Rodgers as “really emotional” — head coaches Ernie Kent and Lute Olson received technicals, and Arizona center Channing Frye lost a tooth.
Jackson came close to topping that game with a 40-point performance on March 17 against Colorado, scoring 29 consecutive points during the second half and overtime to beat the Buffaloes, 77-72, at Mac Court.
Oregon ended the 2003-04 season with a loss to Michigan in the National Invitational Tournament Final Four. Jackson would finish his Duck career second all-time in points scored (1,970, behind Ron Lee’s 2,085), eighth in rebounding and fifth in assists.
Debbie Adams, Bev Smith, Nicole Canepa and Taylor Lilley each scored 38 points in a game at Mac Court, the high-water mark for Oregon women’s basketball.
Tajuan Porter: 10 three-pointers made vs. Portland State, Nov.12, 2006
Tajuan Porter was just a freshman from Detroit with a characteristic malformation on his left ear before his “Hello, world” moment against the Vikings.
The dynamic and diminutive shooting guard (5-foot-6 on a particularly tall day) made 12 of 14 shots for 38 points, a single-game record for an Oregon freshman. Porter made 10 of 12 three-pointers, including a 65-footer as the halftime buzzer sounded.
Oregon set Mac Court records for three-point field goals made (17), points in a half (68 in the first half) and tied the record for points in a game in the 116-68 victory. The Ducks beat Villanova, 116-77, at Mac Court on Dec. 23, 1974.
Bev Smith: 26 rebounds vs. Alaska-Anchorage, Dec. 9, 1978
Before becoming a two-time Olympian, professional basketball player and eventual national team coach for her native Canada, Bev Smith was a freshman forward taking women’s college basketball in the Northwest by storm.
The Salmon Arm, British Columbia, native turned in perhaps her best performance by setting the Oregon single-game rebounding record in a 101-47 victory over Alaska-Anchorage.
Jim Loscutoff holds the overall Mac Court rebounding record, with 32 against Brigham Young on Jan. 28, 1955.
Stefanie Kasperski: 13 blocks vs. Western Kentucky, Dec. 29, 1987
Over a span of two seasons between 1987 and 1989, Kasperski had five games in which she blocked nine or more shots, all at Mac Court. Her performance against then-No. 12 Western Kentucky, however, set a standard that may be impossible to top.
The 6-foot-7 Kasperski finished her career with 402 blocked shots, including 119 in the 1987-88 season. Both are Pac-10 records.
Blair Rasmussen set the men’s basketball bar with eight blocked shots against Davidson on Dec. 27, 1984.
Sue Harbour: 41 kills vs. San Jose State, 1983
In a five-set victory over San Jose State in 1983, Sue Harbour set one of the most difficult records to accomplish at Mac Court, leading the Ducks volleyball team with 41 kills.
Harbour (1982-85) is one of the best female athletes ever to grace the hardwood of Mac Court. She was the first-ever women’s volleyball player to record 2,000 kills in NCAA competition and was named an All-American in 1985, holding school records in kills, blocks and service aces. Off the court, Harbour was a four-time academic All-American who graduated summa cum laude with a double major in mathematics and physical education.
Oregon draws 9,738 fans to women’s basketball game vs. Oregon State, March 8, 1996
Long supported is the tradition of packing Mac Court to the rafters, beyond the stated capacity of 9,087 fans. Oregon took that to another level for the women’s basketball Civil War on March 8, 1996, setting a Pac-10 record for women’s basketball attendance, as the Ducks beat the Beavers, 69-60. Oregon was selected to participate in the 1996 NCAA Tournament, falling in the first round to Wisconsin.
