What started as a scoreless pitchers duel turned disastrous in the fifth inning as the Eugene Emeralds leaked eight runs to the visiting Boise Hawks and never recovered. Using a total of five different pitchers throughout the game, the Ems’ pitching staff failed to hit their stride as the team’s bats stayed equally as ineffective. Today’s loss, a let down from yesterday’s 5-4 win, evens the series at 1-1.
