The left-handed pitcher became the first All-American for the Ducks since the program’s reinstatement in 2009, with Dave Roberts taking home the last All-American honor in 1972.
The Las Vegas native tallied an 8-3 record for the Ducks in 2011, with a 2.17 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 107 and 2/3 innings pitched. He was one of four Pacific-10 Conference pitchers to earn All-American recognition, with UCLA’s Trevor Bauer selected as the Collegiate Player of the Year.
Out of high school, Anderson was a 50th-round selection in the Major League Baseball Draft, and after three seasons as Oregon’s Friday-night starter, the lefty is projected as a first-round pick in 2011.
Anderson’s 17 career wins at Oregon tie for third all-time, and he is the first Duck pitcher to record back-to-back seasons with at least 100 strikeouts.
