Try to contain your surprise, but Oregon will be wearing brand new uniforms against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl next week. In an entirely too detailed release, Nike revealed the 2012 iteration of the Pro Combat uniforms today. Though this whole uniform thing has become a bit absurd, to the point that it’s the first thing people aks about when I mention that I go to the University of Oregon, I have to admit that these are pretty damn cool. The helmets, in particular, are very well done:
Rather than the traditional “O” these helmets showcase the wings that we’ve become so accustomed to seeing atop the shoulder pads. Very sleek.
Nothing really new with the names or the numbers, although I suppose it’s notable that they are both visible.
The numbers are also displayed prominently on the sleeves of the uniform.
And with that, I’ve already written too much about Oregon’s sartorial choices. Suffice it to say, I’m looking forward to seeing these in person next Monday.
