Oregon women’s tennis was defeated today for the second match in a row Friday, when the Ducks fell to USC 7-0 in Los Angeles.
The loss pulled the Ducks to an 11-4 record overall, 2-2 Pac-12.
Despite a dominating presence before conference play, the Ducks didn’t stand a chance today. The Trojans boast the No.8 and No. 71 doubles teams, both of which dropped Oregon with ease to score the doubles point.
In singles, No. 108 singles player Gabby Smith took down Nia Rose 6-0, 6-0. USC’s No. 123 singles player brought down Alyssa Tobita.
Another loss for Oregon to a ranked singles player brought the match to an end. Although play continued for sake of records, the Ducks didn’t score a single point.
The Trojans swept the Ducks 7-0, with only Shweta Sangwan coming close to earning Oregon a point. The freshman lost 10-7 in a third-set tie breaker in the final match.
To finish out its roadtrip, Oregon will take on No. 32 UCLA on Saturday.
