As of April 6, a university official confirmed that UO senior Sean Wood is no longer enrolled for spring term. Wood was arrested on March 30 by UO Police and charged the next day for sexual assault, according to his arrest report.
April 4 at 11 a.m. the State of Oregon filed a no contact order filed between Wood and the victims of his alleged crime. According to this order, Wood may not come within one mile of his victims’ homes, workplace or school, or contact them at all in any form.
Additionally, Wood has been released to return to his home in San Diego. He is only permitted to travel between Oregon and California before his court date.
Wood was released at approximately 11 a.m. from Lane County Jail on April 1. In the time leading up to his arrest, Wood was a member Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Court documents show he is also being charged with sexual abuse for an incident that occurred in September 2013. The victims of his alleged assaults are UO students.
University officials could not comment on whether Wood is being investigated through the UO student conduct code process, which is the only way a student can face disciplinary action by the university. Though UO Title IX Coordinator Darci Heroy could not comment on Wood’s case, she said the process can be delayed during criminal investigations.
Wood could not be reached for comment. Court documents show his parents posted $30,000 of his $300,000 bail, and also could not be reached for comment.
UOPD Public Information Officer Kelly McIver declined to comment on the case.
Wood’s membership has also been placed on interim suspension by Pi Kappa Phi national headquarters, according to the fraternity’s Todd Shelton, the assistant executive director of communications.
