The Oregon beach volleyball team bounced back from two losses on Saturday to pick up its first win of the 2016 season, a 5-0 sweep of Portland on Sunday afternoon.
Oregon took all five matches from the Pilots to improve to 1-2 on the season after the first weekend of play.
The Ducks started hot, winning on all three courts to start the match. In the No. 4 slot, newcomers Lauren Page and Maddy Frank won 21-16, 21-16 over their Portland counterparts. Oregon scored again in the No. 5 spot with a 21-19, 21-16 win from the freshman team of Haley McLaren and August Raskie.
Oregon went on to sweep the match with wins from Martenne Bettendorf and Amanda Benson at No. 3. The Ducks won the first set 21-16. Portland rallied to take the second 21-17, but the Ducks prevailed in the third with a 15-9 win.
Closing out the action, the Ducks swept both the No. 2 and N0. 1 spots to close out weekend play.
Both Taylor Agost and Lindsey Vander Weide now have two wins on the season.
The Ducks return to action next weekend when they travel to the Bay Area. Oregon will play six total matches in three days against Cal, Santa Clara, Arizona State, Stanford and St. Mary’s.
