In line with the second half of its season, all four Oregon women’s tennis players fell on the first day of singles play in the Pac-12 tournament.
Marlou Kluiving, Alyssa Tobita, Shweta Sangwan and Nia Rose each lost their singles matches in the championship bracket. Kluging, who was in the invitational bracket, was the exception.
Sangwan and Tobita was the first to fall. Tobita took a loss to the No. 24 player from USC, while Sangwan lost to her Arizona opponent, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6.
Rose took on No. 82 of Stanford, but lost in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
And with that, the Ducks were out of the championship bracket. Only Kluiving remained on deck for Oregon in the invitational bracket.
Despite putting up a battle, Kluiving fell 6-2, 6-4, to Cal’s Olivia Hauger.
The Ducks remain in the tournament for doubles play. Rose and Tobita are set to take on the team from WSU Friday.
In the invitational bracket for doubles, Kluiving and Paloma Gomez are scheduled to battle Terri C. Fleming and Alaina S. Miller from UCLA Friday morning.
