The Oregon beach volleyball season came to a close Saturday at the Pac-12 Championships in Los Angeles after a 3-2 loss to No. 5-seeded Arizona State.
The Ducks finish the season 2-10 in the program’s third year.
The match began win an Oregon win at No. 4 from Maddy Silberger-Franek and Lauren Page. The duo moved to 5-5 on the year with a 21-13, 21-11 win over their ASU opponents.
ASU knotted it at 1-1 with a win at No. 5 from ASU’s Frances Giedraitis and Logan Rae over Oregon’s Haley McLaren and August Raskie 21-18, 21-17.
The Sun Devils took their first lead against the eighth ranked Ducks in the No. 3 spot with a win over Oregon’s Taylor Agost and Amanda Benson, 21-9, 21-18.
ASU then clinched the match with a 21-18, 21-16 win at the No. 1 spot. Oregon rallied for a win in the final match of the day at No. 2 from Martenne Bettendorf and Lindsey Vander Weide, 21-9, 22-20. In the first set, the Duck duo had an 8-1 lead didn’t look back. In the second set, the two teams were tied at 15-15 because Oregon broke a 20-20 tie with back-to-back points for the win.
