– Oregon track and field has already had a very productive spring. It looks to continue its early season success as it hosts the first outdoor track and field meet of the season, the Pepsi Invitational. Oregon will begin the road to repeating as national champions when they welcome Penn State, USC and Washington to Hayward Field this Saturday.
– On Wednesday, Oregon offensive coordinator Matt Lubick said that Dwayne Benjamin’s future on the team was still “up in the air.” Now it looks like the former Ducks basketball player will not be suiting up for the football team this year. When asked on Twitter if he would be joining the team this upcoming fall, Benjamin replied that he was “not playing.” The 6-foot-7 senior is considering taking his talents overseas to play basketball.
– Coming off its first Pac-12 series loss since 2013, the softball team got back on track with a dominant doubleheader sweep against Portland State. The No. 6 Ducks are in first place in the Pac-12 with a conference record of 7-2. Both losses came from No. 15 UCLA last weekend. They now head up to Corvallis for the Civil War series.
– The baseball team is coming off a forgettable stretch, going 4-9 over the past month. Now, there may be light at the end of the tunnel. Oregon crushed visiting Portland State on Wednesday night 10-1. The 10 runs ties a season high for a team that, to put it lightly, has struggled on offense all season.
Now, the Ducks welcome Cal for a three-game series at PK Park this weekend. The Bears are currently in the first place in the Pac-12, with a record of 7-2 in the conference. The Ducks on the other hand, are trying to right an unsteady ship, sitting at 2-4 and towards the bottom of the Pac-12.
– The women’s golf team could not repeat as champions of the Sivlerado Showdown last weekend in Napa but put together a strong performance nonetheless. As a team the Ducks finished in second and had the best individual performer in junior Cathleen Santoso. Santoso shot a 5-under par for the tournament and collected the second medal honors of her career. The Ducks will now prepare for the Pac-12 Championship.
