Three of the 18 athletes on the recently announced 2016 USA softball women’s national team have ties to the University of Oregon.
Current Oregon infielder Jenna Lilley, former outfielder Janie Takeda and former pitcher Jessica Moore made the team, which was announced on Friday morning.
The trio will represent USA this summer at the World Cup of Softball XI, the WBSC Women’s World Championship and the Japan Cup.
Lilley, Takeda and Moore were chosen after they attended a 40-athlete selection camp in Irvine, California.
Lilley was the No. 1 recruit in the country coming out of high school and hit .427 at the plate in her freshman season for the Ducks.
Takeda, now working as an assistant coach at Biola University, was selected to the women’s national team last summer.
Moore graduated from UO in 2013. While a Duck, she had 12 games with 11 or more strikeout efforts, ranking in the top 20 in school history.
