Candidates for student government’s top post debated the merits of each other’s campaigns in a
final debate in the EMU Amphitheater on Thursday.
During the informal debate, which drew about 25 people, a man dressed in the Ashley Rees-Jael Anker-Lagos ticket’s yellow “Larry the Lightbulb” mascot costume twice yelled “bullshit” as ASUO Executive candidate Adam Walsh spoke.
Walsh and running-mate Kyla Coy said they were not upset over the incident.
“It was a little uncalled for, I
suppose,” Walsh said. “It’s just one of many glaring contradictions in their campaign.”
Rees said her ticket didn’t support the incident and she talked to
the person, adding that it won’t happen again.
“It’s not something we had planned on,” she said.
The debate was one part of an election event held by the ASUO Election Board to publicize the general election, which ends today at 5 p.m. A larger crowd that had gathered before the debate to listen to local hip-hop artists dispersed before the debate began.
