The University campus is home to many rambunctious, and sometimes huge, squirrels. As students go about their daily business, these creatures can often be seen darting across the road, climbing trees and jumping out of trash cans. Squirrels are so ubiquitous on campus that a group of students created a sport called squirrel fishing and tried to make it an official Club Sport during the 2003-04 school year. Though the group’s efforts were unsuccessful, students still participate in the sport, casting lines baited with peanuts into the grass in attempt to begin a game of tug-of-war with a small furry campus resident.
