It seems that with all the excitement of going to Stanford last weekend
for an
Ultimate tournament, I neglected to write a blog, my bad. I can say
that my
excitement was well worth it and so was the sun. We didn’t win the
tournament, lost in quarters, but when is ultimate not fun?
It seems like work is coming to a standstill. For the first time that I
can
remember, there are no tip sheets for pictures up on the board. It has
actually been empty a lot the past couple of days. Maybe we aren’t
slowing
down, but people are picking up tip sheets more often instead of
leaving them;
probably not. My most exciting assignment in the past week or so was
that of
Yadili from the women’s basketball team. We do a weekly profile on a
person
and she was picked. It turns out she has been sewing for a long time,
and she
had made a really neat quilt that she uses on her bed. I just have to
say
that she was super nice and easy to work with.
It seems that their are only six issues of the Emerald left this term.
That
means two things, finals and spring break. My finals won’t be drastic,
and I’m
going to be too excited about going to North Carolina for a couple
Ultimate
tournaments and a week in a beach house. If last year was any
indication of
how much fun it will be, then I’m very much looking forward to it.
Another alternative sport that I’ve started doing again is rock
climbing. I
used to climb a couple times a week, but after a two-year hiatus, I
have
returned and realized how much I have to catch up on. Who knew my arms
could
give out that fast. Not that falling isn’t fun; most of the time you’re
caught
safely. I was lucky enough to be able to take pictures at last year’s
Gorge
Games, where some of the best rock climbers in the world were. There
was a 14-year-old girl that kicked everybody’s ass. I’m not talking
about a battle,
but she climbed up the routes so quickly and with so much ease it was
completely awe inspiring. Maybe some year I will compete in those
games, but
I’ll stick to trail running or mountain biking.
So, good luck to everyone on finals and have a wonderful spring break.
I hope
everyone gets a taste of the sun.
