Serene, somewhat idyllic morning, woke up meditating, reading
Kerouac, Hubert Selby, drinking mate, listening to Miles Davis, then,
folded a paper crane, played guitar… practicing harmonic minor
scales, then major scales, then songs, then read up on iambic
pentameter. Finally, class, drumming for African dancers, improvised
Zebola hand-over-hand pattern, then Kuku… “GN, DN, GO DO, GODOÖ GN,
DN, GO DO, GODO” over and over again. Next breezy easy clase de Espa’ol
para estudiar verbos en el futuro. Lunch at Sakura for the second time
this week. Tofu don buri (this time with mushrooms and onions) reading
used copies of Friday’s Emerald, the ODE, my ode, always thought that
abbreviation was funny. Some rice got stuck in my hair; didn’t notice
until I got home.
Home for five minutes, checking e-mail which hasn’t worked for two
days and still doesn’t. Work. And then the Internet banking system is
down too. Who knows how much money there is… paid my rent early for
the first time ever. A friend arrives. Gotta go get him money, too.
Leaving by bicycle, $20 more out of the bank, heading to Smith Family,
trying to sell books they don’t need. They take one, and it’s close
enough to buy another Kerouac — “The Scripture of Golden Eternity.”
Leave, head to the library, pick up another book, ride my bike home,
sitting down on a wet bicycle seat. Then… now. Hot chocolate rainy
late Friday afternoon, listening to the “Until the End of the World”
soundtrack, writing this past deadline again. End lazy crayon induced
musings, let weekend commence.
