Yipes! That week whipped by, didn’t it? And we got
a taste of everything. Ashcroft protecting us against
the dangers of glass was one of the better parts of it
for me. Apparently, terrorists and violent criminals
have nothing on the legions of bongs poised to attack.
Now that the menacing glassware is safely detained,
whew, I feel relieved.
Moving on. Mason told me I was too nice when I
edited his columns, thus rendering my niceness
disingenuous, which was thought-provoking — especially
because I think I’m mean sometimes, even bitchy. But
that got me thinking about how most of us are taught
to be nice. And is niceness or honesty better? I
usually find that when I’m honest, it gets me in more
arguments. Trust me, I tried it yesterday evening, and
it didn’t go over so well. But I’m convinced that’s
better than being fake. So if I seem meaner next week,
it’s Mason’s fault. But really, when I’m being mean,
everyone still thinks I’m being nice, which is, ugh,
kind of confusing. Maybe I’m just honest and nice at
the same time.
And on. I spent most of the week working on my
documentary project for photography class, which
entailed being at school from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. for a
few days this week. Yawnnnn. Neeed sleeeep. One of my
teachers also told me I didn’t participate in class
enough, which was interesting, given that there are
about 250 people in the class. I wonder how the
teacher can tell who’s “participating” and who’s not.
But I’ll try to ask more stupid questions.
All in all,a normal week, if there is such a thing.
Next weekend, Seattle. More bloggy self-indulgence at
its finest after that.
