Oregon Daily Emerald: Let’s start with your name.
Willey: David Willey.
Emerald: What’s your year and major?
Willey: I’m a sophomore and I am undeclared.
Emerald: And why are you running for this particular seat?
Willey: I am running for the seat because I think I can make a difference in talking to the president and making — telling him basically like what’s going on campus. He’s a busy man and he can’t always go out and see what’s going on with the students and I am just going to go out and be his eyes and ears, pretty much.
Emerald: And are you involved with other activities on campus right now?
Willey: Yeah, I’m on the crew team.
Emerald: So could you tell me what your board does exactly and why it’s important — the board that you’re running for?
Willey: Basically we just get together with the president twice a term and just advice him on anything that he’d have questions about or anything that we think that is important we can bring up.
Emerald: What are the most issues affecting students you hope to represent?
Willey: Well, there is obviously the issue of you know, the university’s stance on the war on Iraq, alcohol and drug policies, as well as theft on campus, just bicycle crimes, or theft involving bicycles, and so on.
Emerald: Do you want to elaborate more why these particular issues stand out for you?
Willey: I just think that they’re important and everyone has an opinion on these and I think that it’s important that the president realizes that student opinions are important and shouldn’t be overlooked.
Emerald: Anything else?
Willey: No, that’s about it.
