The webmaster is responsible for maintaining and updating the Emerald
Web site on a daily basis, and will be specifically expected to:
Learn how the Digital Partners interfaces and templates work so thatfixes and updates to all sections of the Web site are easilyaccomplished.Learn how to transfer the Quark documents to the online edition.Transfer the Emerald from Quark pages to the Web by 9 a.m. each day.Make sure all links and pages work for every section of the Web siteeach day.Be available on short notice for unexpected maintenance or updates.Work with the advertising director to ensure that all links arefunctionaland to update and improve the ad sections as needed.Maintain and update e-mail aliases.Check with all departments every day for any corrections or updatesthatmay be needed.Work to develop and implement new site features.Maintain, update and improve every aspect of the Emerald’s Web site,including but not limited to the archives, staff box and alumni page.Monitor the Internet for media trends online.Work with the online editor regarding the visual design of the onlineedition.Make grammatical and factual corrections to the online edition asrequired or upon consultation with the editor in chief.Perform other duties as assigned.Keep regular office hours.Attend required staff meetings.Set individual goals each term to improve your journalistic skills.
Requirements: Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Oregon
during employment. As a salaried employee, hours will vary, but must be
able to work up to 20 hours per week.
