The designer will design computer graphics and paginate pages for
publication in the newspaper, and will be specifically expected to:

• Have an understanding of newspaper design and be able to design
  pages.
• Become extremely familiar with the operation of computer design
  tools,
  including QuarkXpress, Aldus Freehand and Adobe Photoshop.
• Keep track of graphics in the works, making sure they are finished in
  time for publication and contain no inaccuracies or errors of grammar,
  spelling, or style.
• Produce graphic tags, pictures and infographics for the news desks.
• Type in information for graphics, as required.
• Search clip art files when needed.
• Work with the design editor and other staff members to develop
  innovative graphic-oriented projects.
• Keep regular office hours.
• Attend required staff meetings and occasional desk meetings.
• Set individual goals each term to improve your journalistic skills.

Requirements: Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Oregon
during employment. As a salaried employee, hours will vary, but must be
able to work up to 15 hours a week, mostly in the evening.
