The half way point. What a ride so far. With all that is happening at
the
Emerald and midterms finally over with, these weeks have flown. In a
week,
Valentine’s Day will be here and I will be San Diego for the weekend.
No, it
won’t be because of V-Day, rather it is because of a most anticipated
tournament. But, enough said about things that haven’t happened.
This last week I realized that I haven’t watched any TV. It isn’t that
I
miss it. And don’t get me wrong, I have my regular shows, that consist
of
“Smallville,” “Joe Millionaire” and “The Bachelor.” These don’t really
count as
television and therefore I haven’t not watched any. And soon “Survivor”
will
begin and my contestant, Alex, is looking good. Yes, there is nothing
better
than a “Survivor” pool. Take 16 friends (careful — they might not be
afterwards),
put their names in a hat, and the first name out picks the first
survivor.
I was
the third pick overall. But I realize after playing this for four or
five
seasons
that no one in the first five picks has ever won it. Last season, the
last
five
people to pick were the last five people left in the show. So, it is
almost
irrelevant. After that you just need to set up an e-mail list and let
the
trash talking commence. This is the fun part. You can take everybody’s
little problems and what not and rip them to shreds, and it doesn’t
matter
because you aren’t directly hurting anyone. Unless of course you send
your
e-mail to one of the real survivors.
In the end, when you win, you can feel like you have really won the
million
dollars because you have been through everything with them. Except
usually
you’re the one gaining weight, and everyone in my pool puts in $10 and
first
place gets $100 of it. And of course with all these reality show their
are
more chances for pools.
So, if you find yourself watching “Survivor,” then root for Alex. Or
if you
are evil, then root for somebody bringing alcohol as one of their
luxury items
and watch him crumble as he slowly runs out of food. Read his bio to
understand that one.
Until next week.
