The Sugar Beets & Taarka
Perennial Eugene-favorite The Sugar Beets and Portland-based Taarka
played a concert at the WOW Hall on Friday night, in one of the many
Halloween festivities in Eugene. Both bands were dressed in
full-costume,
including University drumming instructor and Sugar Beets member Brian
West, who was in drag.
In between the two bands’ all-night extravaganza was a costume contest
that awarded a duo of women with first places honors. Taarka hit the
stage at around 11 p.m. and closed the night with a 120 minute-plus
set
of instrumental music, including tunes from their upcoming album
titled
“Even Odd Bird.”
