I do believe the first week of school is done. I never keep track, so
who
knows. Can I say that I have two literature classes, and together they
consist of 13
books? Yeah, it is going to take a lot of time. And then there’s the
fact
that all my
classes are general requirements and nothing to do with my journalism
major.
That is the beauty of journalism, though, you gain a little knowledge
about
everything, and now I am in Russian Women Lit which consists of only
two guys
and the rest women. Yes, it is a little nerve wracking, but it is a
good class
so far, and the first book we are reading, called “The Cavalry Maiden,”
is
really
interesting. My third class is economics and it is pretty lifeless. My
really fun
class is Aerial Manuevers, and it is a blast. For the first two weeks
you
learn
just how to bounce on a trampoline, but after that we strap snowboards
or skis
or whatever you want on your feet and learn different stuff.
Work-wise it has been a pretty uninteresting week. Nothing crazy, but
never
boring. I also work at The Register-Guard in the photo department, but
I
don’t take pictures, usually, for them, so I have a sort of set
schedule of
when
I do stuff. But here at the Emerald every tip sheet is a potential
story to
tell somebody. We have new digital cameras, two Nikon D1H’s, and they
are
heaven-sent. But, like anything else there are always problems. The
first
nice asset is the obvious fact that you don’t have film. Instead, you
have a
memory card which can hold different amounts of information depending
on how
much you spend. So, now instead of forgetting to bring film, you can
forget to
bring a memory card. Neither of which has happened until this week.
Luckily
I was only at Rennie’s for an assignment, but it was late and I was
sick and
honestly, what can be more embarrassing.
All in all it has been an average week, but it is only the first. I
expect
many good stories to pop up soon. Maybe a bear will jump out from
nowhere and
start chasing me. I will try running up a tree only to be saved by the
cookies that I’m always eating or asking people to make for me.
