For the first time this season, the Oregon men’s basketball team is not ranked in the top 25 of the Associate Press poll. The fall came after the team’s third straight loss Sunday to Stanford at home. The Ducks are now 1-3 in Pac-12 play and rank eighth in the conference after boasting a perfect 12-0 record in their non-conference schedule. @@ facts checked @@
In their three-game skid, the Ducks gave up an average of 92.7 points and simply could not string together enough stops to stay in contention. The Ducks do still rank as the third best scoring offense in the nation with an 88.4 (points per game) average, but they’ve also given up 77.7 ppg this season (298th in the nation). @@ facts checked @@
Next up for the Ducks is a three-game road trip against Oregon State, Washington and Washington State. Though Washington is the lone team out of the three that holds a conference ranking higher than the Ducks, the Ducks will be in dire need of a turnaround following a recent plummet in the standings. @@ facts checked @@
Remaining on top of the rankings were the Arizona Wildcats, who picked up wins against UCLA and USC to remain as one of two unbeaten teams in the Pac-12. The Wildcats have now held the No. 1 ranking for the last six weeks. Oregon is set to play Arizona on their court Feb. 6. @@ facts checked @@
The week 11 rankings have seen several newcomers. Six previously unranked teams found their way into the AP Top 25 this week and one of them included a UCLA team that boasts a 13-3 record (now ranked No. 25). Despite Oregon’s drop, the Pac-12 still holds three ranked teams in Arizona, Colorado and the Bruins. Colorado dropped six spots to N0. 21 following their loss to Washington this past week.
There are still four unbeaten teams in the top 25.
