Turnovers and overturned plays come up huge as Oregon (7-5) survived a poor offensive first half to beat Arizona State (6-5) 31-29 .
Key Plays:
At the start of the fourth quarter, the referees overturned a catch by N’Keal Harry, setting up third-and-15, and Wilkins was sacked by Gus Cumberlander. However Ugo Amadi fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Sun Devils on the 47-yard line.
That turnover led to the first touchdown of the second half, a 25-yard pass from Wilkins to Aiyuk with 11 minutes left. Oregon led 28-23.
Tony Brooks-James returned the next kickoff for 57 yards, which set up an Adam Stack 28-yard field. Oregon extended the lead 31-23.
Wilkins scored on a one-yard quarterback-sneak with 4:35 left in the game. The Sun Devils attempted a two point conversion, but Frank Darby was out of bounds on the pass and the Ducks held a 31-29 lead.
Another one of Harry’s catches was overturned, and Arizona was facing third third down. Lamar Winston Jr. sacked Wilkins, and the ball came loose, and was picked up by Cumberlander with three minutes to go.
After trying to run down the clock and facing third-and-2, Oregon forced a false start penalty on Arizona State, giving the Ducks a first down and sealing the game.
