LGBT activist, author and campus speaker Robyn Ochs will present an interactive program titled “Beyond Binaries: Identity and Sexuality” tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Redwood Room of the EMU.
Participants in the program will “explore the landscape of sexuality, conduct a thought-provoking anonymous survey of those present, and look together at the data,” according to the event’s description. The program also promises to “expand your perspective and change the way you think about labels.”
Some areas of focus during the program will be the experiences and challenges of people with non-binary sexualities and how people can help support them.
Ochs is the editor for “Bi Women Quarterly,” as well as the anthologies “Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World” and “RECOGNIZE: The Voices of Bisexual Men.”
The biography on Ochs’ website says that as “an advocate for the rights of people of ALL orientations and genders to live safely, openly and with full access and opportunity, Robyn’s work focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of complex identities, and mobilizing people to be powerful allies to one another within and across identities and social movements.”
