Learning new things and connecting with others who share the same passions that you do is an important part of going to college, and the University of Oregon has many clubs that can help you with just that. Whether you enjoy being out in nature or dancing, the University of Oregon offers many clubs that will fit anyone’s needs.
Below are 10 great clubs we recommend that you check out this year to learn new skills and have fun doing so!
UO West Coast Swing Club
Whether you enjoy swing dancing or just want to learn a new dance style, this club provides the opportunity for all levels of dancers to develop new skills while having fun! The club meets in the at the Global Scholars Hall, Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
UO Cubing Club
If you’re a Rubik’s Cube guru, or just mess with it from time to time, then the Cubing Club is just the club for you. Hang out and share your skills with like-minded Rubik’s Cube enthusiasts. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. in the EMU center for student involvement.
Duck Street Dance Club
Looking for free dance workshops? Duck Street Dance Club is devoted to teaching choreograph dance of all types; with styles like b-boying, jazz funk, hip-hop and many more. Meetings are held on Thursdays in the Rec Center Room 283 at 7:30 p.m.
Philosophical Society
The Philosophical Society is where students of all departments can come to share ideas and learn alternative ways of thinking about philosophical topics. Meetings are held at Cafe Roma on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m.
Ballroom Dance Club
Free workshops on dance inside a fun atmosphere. All dancers of every level are encouraged to come check it out and pick up a few dance moves. Club sessions are held Fridays at 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Gerlinger 220.
Geology Club
Come check out the Geology Club where you can come hang out at social events and go on free trips with other people who love exploring Oregon nature just as much as you do! Absolute Improv
This classic improvisation comedy troupe performs and rehearses in the Pocket Playhouse on campus in Villard Hall. If you fancy yourself a jokester who is quick-witted and good on the fly, come check out Absolute Improv! They hold auditions periodically throughout the year and perform at least once per term. Spikeball Roundnet Club
Never heard of spikeball? Honestly, me neither. But it’s an up-and-coming sport and UO has an official recreational league. Basically, it’s a two-on-two game including a ball and a hula hoop-sized trampoline. What isn’t to love about that? Sketch Comedy Club
Not one for improv comedy? Sketch club might be for you! This group writes all of their own material. They perform live in the Pocket Playhouse and they film some of their sketches. Test out your comedy prowess in a fun and collaborative environment. Come check it out on Sundays at 3 p.m. in Villard 104.
Swim Club
If you love to swim, then this club is for you! The swim club welcomes swimmers of all levels. It is a fun and competitive atmosphere where students can strengthen their swimming skills and have fun doing so! Find more at blogs.uoregon.edu/uoswim/.
