On March 30, Angela Lauer Chong, vice president for student life, sent an email to students announcing that both UO and UA have reached a tentative agreement.
“University administration is incredibly grateful to the members of the UO and UA bargaining teams for their many hours of work to reach a tentative agreement,” Chong said.
The email also said that all spring term classes are scheduled to begin today, March 31.
“Classes will be held normally tomorrow, this week, and — assuming a successful ratification vote — throughout the spring term,” Mike Urbancic, UA president, said in an email statement to the Daily Emerald.
The tentative agreement comes after a year of negotiations and mediation sessions, with UA looking to secure a new contract with UO that included wage increase for faculty.
Following the agreement, the union has paused efforts to strike and will hold a ratification vote.
According to Urbancic, a ratification vote will take place over a three-day period this week, starting with today or April 1.
According to UO’s website, upon ratification, tenure-related faculty, career instructional faculty, career research faculty and limited term duration faculty will receive an across-the-board 4.5% increase in wages.
Effective Sept. 1, 2025, tenure related faculty will receive a 3.25% across-the-board increase in wages, while career instructional faculty will receive a 3.25% raise across the board plus 2% equity pool increase. In addition, there will be a 4.25% wage increase for career research faculty and 2% increases for limited term duration faculty.
Effective Sept. 1, 2026, there will be a 2% increase across the board for tenured-related faculty plus and a 3% merit pool. A 3% increase across the board for career instructional faculty, 3% increases across the board for career research faculty and 2% increases across the board for limited term duration faculty will also take effect Sept. 1 2026.
The tentative agreement also includes salary floor and review-related increase, and an increase for postdoctoral scholars.
