Oregon men’s basketball upsets No. 3 Arizona at Matthew Knight Arena in front of a sold-out crowd. Damyean Dotson scores two points and Dominic Artis is held scoreless, while seniors Jonathan Loyd, Jason Calliste and Mike Moser lead the way on the scoreboard.
Later that evening, Dotson, Artis and Brandon Austin attend a party at Loyd’s house, where the three were accused of committing forcible rape on another UO student, one Jane Doe.
Doe’s father notifies the University of Oregon Police Department of the alleged rape.

Oregon beats Oregon State in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament. Dotson and Artis both play 23 minutes and combine for 15 points.

Doe reports the incident to the Eugene Police Department. According to head coach Dana Altman and athletic director Rob Mullens, the EPD contacts UO and tells the university to “not do anything that might hinder their criminal investigation — including suspending players or not playing them in a game,” but does not specify which players are involved in the incident.
The Ducks’ regular season ends with a 82-63 loss to UCLA. Artis and Dotson play substantial minutes, but combine for just nine points.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Austin had been under investigation for an alleged sexual assault while at Providence College.
March 20, 2014
No. 7 seed Oregon wins its first game of the NCAA Tournament against No. 10 BYU. Dotson and Artis combine for seven points.

Oregon’s season ends with a 85-77 loss to No. 2 Wisconsin. Dotson and Artis combine for seven points again in the loss.

The Lane County District Attorney’s office writes that due to insufficient evidence, it would not pursue the prosecution of Dotson, who was listed as a suspect at the time.

UO and Altman are sued by Doe, and the lawsuit claims that the university violated Title IX by showing “deliberate indifference” to the safety of its students in its recruitment of Austin.
Doe’s lawyers include a statement from Austin’s mother, Tammy: “We told them everything. They knew everything.”

Oregon wraps up a road trip to Washington in which it lost to both Washington and Washington State. At this point the Ducks, who were predicted to finish eighth in the conference, are 2-3 in Pac-12 play.

Tammy Austin files an official court document stating that while she told Altman that her son had an altercation with another person, she never specified the altercation had anything to do with sexual misconduct.

Oregon, following its loss to Washington in January, wins eight of its next ten games, culminating with a victory over No. 9 Utah. The win virtually secures the Ducks a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season.

UO drops its counterclaim against Doe after an online petition generated noticeable disdain for the university’s decision to retaliate against Doe.

Oregon finishes Pac-12 play 13-5 and in second place overall in the conference standings. Young – averaging 19.8 points per game – is awarded Pac-12 Player of the Year, while Altman won the conference’s Coach of the Year award.

Following the regular season, Oregon would make it to the Pac-12 Tournament Championship game and fall for the third straight time to Arizona. The Ducks received a No. 8 seed and won its second round contest versus Oklahoma State, 79-73. But the momentum took a screeching a halt against a far more well-rounded Wisconsin team. The Badgers defeated Oregon 72-65, ending the Ducks’ season in the same fashion as it did a year prior.
