Oregon baseball ended its four game skid with a 4-0 win over Seattle University in Hillsboro Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Ducks (18-12) manufactured a run then tacked on three insurance runs all while the Oregon pitching staff tossed a combined shutout for the win.
Jacob Corn (3-0) didn’t disappoint in only the third start of his career. The freshman tossed 5.2 one-hit innings before turning the ball over to his bullpen where Brac Warren, Josh Graham and Garrett Cleavinger closed the game out with 3.1 no-hit innings.
Tim Susnara kickstarted the Oregon offense with a leadoff single in the fifth inning, moved into scoring position on an Austin Grebeck sacrifice bunt and scored on a Scott Heineman single to get the Ducks’ first run.
Brandon Cuddy picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning and Mark Karaviotis cleared the bases with a two-run double to bury the Redhawks in the late going.
The win was surely a welcome sight for an Oregon ball club that had lost 10 of its last 14 games. The pitching staff got contributions from multiple parts of the bullpen and the Oregon offense made the most of its opportunities when it received them.
Oregon limited Seattle to a 0-10 split with runners on base, while Oregon advanced 10 runners in 17 opportunities.
The Ducks will continue their long stretch of games on Friday against Michigan State in P.K. Park.
