Uncharted 4 Delayed To Spring 2016
Sorry kids, looks like Uncle Drake won’t be making it home for Christmas this year. Video game developer Naughty Dog announced this week that the highly anticipated sequel would release in spring 2016, rather than the initially announced fall 2015 release. In a blog post, Playstation says “it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.” Uncharted 4 has been the subject of speculation for many months, due to several delays and high-profile departures of key Naughty Dog staff (such as series’ creator Amy Henning, who left to work with Visceral Games on an upcoming Star Wars project for EA).
Titanfall 2 Is Coming To PS4
Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, was present at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for video games this week. While there, he confirmed in an IGN interview that a sequel to the 2014 multiplayer shooter Titanfall was in development and would be multi-platform (compared to the original, which was exclusive to the XBox platform and PC). Zampella declined to give any further details, but considering the game was initially revealed with a flashy E3 reveal, it’s easy to speculate that we’ll get more details this June. In the meantime, Respawn is celebrating the first game’s one-year anniversary by making the game’s DLC maps free to download for a limited time on PC, XBox ONE and XBox 360.
TRON 3 is Video Game News Because I Said So, Okay?
It was a pretty slow week for gaming news, with most of the media more enchanted by the several outstanding releases hitting shelves this week (Ori And The Blind Forest, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Cities: Skylines, and Project: S.T.E.A.M, just to name a few). But fortunately, Hollywood is there to round out an otherwise dead week. The original TRON is a seminal work, a forward-thinking film that drew upon the young medium of video games to create a fantasy sci-fi spectacle. 2010’s TRON: Legacy updated the format, and with it brought video game-esque concepts onto the big screen. If you’ve been jittering with anticipation over the fate of a another film, jitter no longer! Several sources have reported that TRON 3 has been greenlit, with director Joseph Kosinski and star Garrett Hedlund set to return. No word on if Daft Punk will return for another stunning soundtrack, but we can only hope. TRON 3 starts shooting this October for a likely 2016 release.
