Amber Brazil, a University of Oregon student, survived the aftermath of the recent Nepal earthquake and has made contact with her family, according to the Register-Guard.
Brazil and her traveling companion, Alicia Scroggins, were reported missing yesterday after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal.
Although they are safe, the two will have to hike five hours for a helicopter to land and rescue them, according to a friend of the family.
Four UO students from Nepal have teamed up with the Eugene/Kathmandu Sister City Association to raise funds send back home for immediate assistance, such as food, shelter, sanitation and water.
