The University of Oregon is seeking new general counsel to lead its office, according to Around the O.
The general counsel, who currently is Interim General Counsel Doug Park, is the chief legal officer for the University. General counsel has the responsibility to handle the university’s legal affairs and oversee legal services for the university and the UO Board of Trustees. The general counsel also supervises the office budget and staff, including five other attorneys.
The first of five candidates is Thomas Dorer, current vice president and general counsel at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. He will be on campus to meet with faculty, campus leaders and campus community on a two-day visit this Thursday and Friday.
According to the schedule, not all presentations will be public events.
The university has scheduled interviews for five finalists between April 30 to May 14. Information about the finalists will be provided two days before each interview here.
The search committee was appointed in December of 2014.
