The Ducks fell in the first round of tournament play after the Pioneers went on a 7-3 scoring run in the second half of the game.
Denver opened the game with a goal at the 21:08 left mark. Oregon answered with two goals of their own, both from Rachel Steinberg. One came on an assist from Cambi Cukar.
Denver rebutted with three unanswered goals to end the half with a 4-2 lead over the Ducks.
The Ducks weren’t able to keep up with Denver’s speed and allowed four unanswered goals to begin the second half. Oregon scored its first goal of the half with 13:22 left to play on Carly O’Connell’s 33rd goal of the season. O’Connell was named first-team All-MPSF earlier this week. This is her third time receiving the honors after she was named second-team All-MPSF for the past two years.
Oregon scored its final two goals of the game consecutively after O’Connell set the pace. One goal came from Freshman Cukar and the other on Junior Courtney Valdez’s 24th goal of the season. The three goals weren’t enough to pull the Ducks into the lead.
The Ducks finished their season 10-8 overall and 4-5 MPSF play.
The Ducks will be saying goodbye to their seniors, which include Olivia Pyne, Raleigh Cavey, Hayley Milner, Casey Brogan and Devon Frazer.
