Both Jenna Lilley and Cheridan Hawkins played large roles in Oregon’s sweep of No. 9 Louisiana Lafayette over the weekend.
The Pac-12 conference certainly agrees.
Lilley was named conference player of the week, while Hawkins received the Pac-12 pitcher of the week award, the conference announced Monday.
In the three games against the Ragin’ Cajuns, Lilley hit .750. This included a double, a homer and six RBIs, while also posting a perfect record from the field. She was 3-for-3 with a run scored and four RBIs on Friday. She was 3-for-5 during Saturday’s doubleheader. Her .442 batting average a team best.
Hawkins recorded her sixth no-hitter of her career and third of the season during Friday’s run-rule win. In five innings, she allowed two walks and struck out 11 of 15 batters she faced. On Saturday, she started again for the Ducks, striking out seven, allowing four hits and two earned runs.
She came in relief for the Ducks at the end of Saturday’s finale, striking out three of the four batters she faced, helping the Ducks to a 2-1 extra inning win.
Monday marks the third time Lilley has been named player of the week as a freshman. The honor is Hawkin’s 11th pitcher of the week award.
The Ducks return to action this weekend, hosting California on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the finale regular season home games. All three games will be shown live on Pac-12 Networks.
