Deus Ex Returns with Mankind Divided
After a three-day long teaser campaign on Twitch, Square-Enix has formally announced Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – the long awaited sequel to the franchise’s 2011 entry, Human Revolution. The title was revealed with a lengthy (and gorgeous) CGI trailer, which teases a caste society between mechanically-augmented humans and those who stay pure. The Deus Ex franchise is one of the most beloved in gaming, having practically invented the action-RPG genre back in 2000. No release date has been set for Mankind Divided, but expect to see it on PC, XBox ONE and PS4 sometime in the future.
Call of Duty takes to Snapchat to tease Black Ops 3
If you’re one of the few Call of Duty loyalists who never moved on from 2012’s Black Ops 2, you may have noticed some strange icons popping up in some classic maps recently. The icons direct players to Snapchat, which then displays one of several haunting teaser videos. Considering that 2015 will be Treyarch’s year for a new entry in the franchise and that it has developed the past two Black Ops games – the dots were not difficult to connect. A few days later, the obvious was confirmed — Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is real. The vague teaser doesn’t show much in the way of footage , but it does confirm a “world reveal” on April 26th.
Harry Potter joins the cast of Grand Theft Auto (No, seriously)
No, it’s not Hogwarts DLC for GTA V. Instead, BBC has announced plans for a film based on the development of the iconic Grand Theft Auto franchise and the various media firestorms that followed. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Daniel Radcliffe is in final talks to play Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games. It also sounds like the plot will revolve around the franchise’s public conflict with infamous Florida lawyer Jack Thompson, who made violent video games his personal crusade in the mid-2000s. Owen Harris (Black Mirror, Kill Your Friends) is set to direct, and the film will likely air on BBC in 2016.
A Caterer Might Have Just Confirmed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5
No matter how many NDAs you can throw at a population, it’s extremely hard to keep things under wraps in 2015, when every moment needs to be memorialized on social media. Activision has learned this the hard way, as it appears that a chef named Joe Youkhan has inadvertently confirmed the existence of a new entry in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise. In the background of an Instagram post (“#Catering for @TonyHawk!“) a screen shows a logo for Tony Hawk 5. A representative close to the game spoke to IGN and confirmed that is only a “working title.” However, it seems to indicate that a successor to the classic Pro Skater series is close to official reveal. Last year, Tony Hawk himself confirmed that he was working on a new console game – but this is the first sign that it will be a direct continuation of THPS.
