A small contingent of Oregon track and field athletes were sent down to the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, California on Saturday. They competed well for the Ducks with six personal records.
Molly Grabill had a huge performance in the women’s 5000, finishing in 15:47.69. That time was 50 seconds faster than her previous best and ranks seventh in school history. Teammate Maggie Schmaedick placed fourth in her section, setting a personal-best of 16:09.76.
Indoor All-American Daniel Winn set a three-second personal best of his own in the men’s 1500, finishing fifth in his section in 3:39.76. Freshman Blake Haney made his outdoor debut as a Duck, crossing in 3:41.27 in an early section. That was good enough for a third-place mark and a personal record.
Frida Berge finished fifth in her section of the women’s steeplechase (10:19.21 — a personal best), while teammate Alli Cash crossed in 10:31.56. It looked like Cash would claim a best of her own, but a costly stumble over a barrier slowed her down. She finished one second off her lifetime best.
The final Oregon personal record was set by redshirt freshman Jake Leingang. He took fourth in his section of the men’s 5000, finishing in 13:46.64.
Oregon freshman Blake Haney ran his first race as a Duck in the 1500 alongside teammate Daniel Winn. (How they both did).

The Ducks will return to Historic Hayward Field next Friday to host the Oregon Twilight. There will be a special recognition for the Oregon seniors during the meet.
