Cheridan Hawkins keeps on bringing home the hardware.
After being named to the Pac-12 first team in 2013 and 2014, Hawkins can add her name to the 2015 Pac-12 first team.
In a statement released today by the Pac-12, Hawkins was chosen for the Pac-12 first team as well the Pac-12 defensive team and has been named the Pac-12 pitcher of the year, the second consecutive year that she’s received the honor.
The junior went 27-3 with a 1.39 ERA, tops in the Pac-12 and 10th in the nation. She recorded 224 strikeouts in just 165.2 inning s thrown while holding opponents to a .140 batting average. She was named Pac-12 pitcher of the week five times this year and has received the weekly award 11 times in her career.
Hawkins, a reigning first-team all-American, is a finalist for national player of the year.
True freshman Jenna Lilley was also named to the Pac-12 first team and Pac-12 freshmen team. She also received the honor as Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
Lilley replaced the departed Courtney Ceo at third base for Oregon and did a great job of solidifying the hot corner and the No. 3 spot in Oregon’s lineup. She batted .448 on the year and posted a .550 on-base percentage, ranking her second in the Pac-12 in both categories. She did a bit of everything for the Ducks, recording 15 doubles, six home runs and going 15-for-17 on stolen base attempts.
Six other Ducks received conference accolades.
Catcher Janelle Lindvall and outfielder Janie Takeda took home Pac-12 first team honors while outfielder Koral Costa and shortstop Nikki Udria took home Pac-12 second team honors.
Lindvall, a 2014 Pac-12 second team member, jumped to the first team thanks to her position as the anchor of the Oregon defense. She bats anywhere from fifth-sixth in the Oregon lineup but she has the potential to hit a homerun in every at-bat. She hit .339 on the year with six homeruns but drew 24 walks and 14 hit-by-pitches for a .503 on-base percentage, second on the Ducks.
She was also named to the Pac-12 defensive team with a .987 fielding percentage. She committed four errors and gave up four passed balls but also threw out five of the 13 baserunners trying to steal.
Takeda is a former Pac-12 first team member from 2013 and 2014 and earned the same honor this year with another stellar offensive season. She hit .421 with nine double and four homeruns while going 33-for-35 on stolen base attempts. She also set Oregon career records for hits, stolen bases, runs scored and is likely to set it for batting average also once the season ends.
Costa was a Pac-12 second team selection last year while Udria was chosen as a member of the Pac-12 freshmen team last year. Costa leads the Ducks in homeruns with 14 while Udria has thrived in the leadoff spot for the Ducks with a .380 batting average.
Lauren Lindvall and Gwen Svekis, two players mainly coming off the bench or the Ducks, were chosen to the Pac-12 freshman team.
Lindvall started 28 of a possible 52 games on the year and is hitting .362 with six homeruns. Lindvall has started at second base and in the outfield for the Ducks and her versatility is what makes her so special.
Svekis is a big-bat coming off the bench for Oregon. Although she has started in 20 games on the year, she’s tied for fourth on the team with six homeruns and has seven doubles. Svekis sees her time on the field from the catcher position but it’s her dangerous bat is what make her a threat on the field.
