The meeting didn’t last 45 minutes, but decisions regarding millions of dollars still took place.
Any major decisions at the University of Oregon need to go through the Board of Trustees. At their Feb. 9 meeting, they okayed the following:
- Raising the salary of Mark Helfrich, the Ducks head football coach, by $3.15 million. Helfrich recently received a five-year contract extension, and he wasn’t the only one in the athletic department to receive a raise: Rob Mullens, director of Intercollegiate Athletics, was renewed for $700,000 a year.
- Allowing the university to bring outside vendors into the remodeled Erb Memorial Union. Vendors talking with the university include local brewery Falling Sky, Chipotle and Starbucks.
- Building a new softball field for $16.5 million. The current softball field is good for neither spectators nor athletes, according to Chris Ramey, VP of campus planning and real estate. Among other things, athletes have to change in MacArthur Court.
