After finishing the regular season with a 16-13 record and earning an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, it was announced Tuesday morning that two Oregon volleyball players have earned all-conference honors.
Standout freshman Lindsey Vander Weide was selected to the all-conference first team, as well as the all-freshman team. An outside hitter from Turlock, Calif., Vander Weide was second on the Oregon team with 344 kills on the season and she was the Ducks’ top offensive player during the last month of the season.
She hit .231 and posted a season-best 25 kills in a Sep. 24 win over Oregon State. She also lead the team in kills per-set during conference play and was 10th in the Pac-12 during that span. Vander Weide is just the second player in school history to garner all-conference honors as a freshman and the first since Michele Krebsbach did so in 1986.
Oregon junior libero Amanda Benson earned all-conference honorable mention honors for the third consecutive year. Benson led the Ducks with with 506 digs and 4.56 digs per-set, good for second in the conference.
Samantha Bricio of USC was named conference player of the year after leading the Trojans to a conference title and the No.1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Stanford led all teams with four players selected to the all-conference team.
